Obituary

Herb Lorenz passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Primrose Retirement Community in Cheyenne, Wyoming at the age of 90. He was born on September 3, 1928 in Walla Walla, Washington to Abe and Katherine (Ochs) Lorenz.

Herb lived and worked on the Lorenz Family Ranch near Federal, Wyoming during his youth. He married Anseth Wesner and they had three children, Philip, Cheryl and Lyn. They later divorced. He married his soulmate, Shirley Meisner Plumb on December 4, 1980 and was married for 39 years.

Herb was very adventurous in his lifetime, including uranium mining, being a dairy farmer, owning a funeral home, a ditch-line company, second mortgage company, real estate development and in his later years, spending the summers at his beloved Lorenz Ranch, running the backhoe making improvements. One of the highlights of his life was being an owner and breeder of racing Quarter Horses. Purchasing a horse named, Jet Dance, changed both of their lives as he was a race champion in both Colorado and California and later became the Lorenz Farms herd sire. They raised and raced many champions.

Herb is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; children, Philip (Bettie) of Cheyenne, Cheryl (Cliff) of Greeley, CO, and Lyn of Coos Bay, OR; grandchildren, Alisa (Rick) Manwell, Phillip Herbert (Michelle) Lorenz and Jennifer Bailey; and great-grandchildren, Grace Bailey and P H Lorenz.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.

Matt and I were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Herb. We will always cherish our time spent at the Lorenz Ranch, and especially, our time spent with Herb. We sure enjoyed listening to this cowboy tell us his tales of days gone by, which was always done with a twinkle in his eye. God Speed, Herb. We just loved you and you will never be forgotten. Love, Mel and Matt Frazier.

To the Family,
I would like to express how sorry to hear of your loss.
It seems so unfair that death should have the power to take away someone you love. And when it happens, the thought of never again being able to talk to, laugh with, or hold your loved one can be most difficult to bear. That pain is not necessarily erased by being told that your loved one is up in heaven.
I found what God promises in the Bible helpful. At Acts 24:15 it says “And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead.”
This promise has consoled me when my father died. Hopefully, it can provide some hope and comfort to your family.

My deep deep condolences to the Lorenz family:
May you reflect on the precious memories of your loved one. I would like to share what helped us when our precious daughter died and later when my precious husband fell asleep in death due to cancer. I appreciated the calls and visits from family and friends. But, I recall just sitting down and reading different Scriptures and meditating on them. It was so comforting to read that God cares for me personally... (1Peter 5:6, 7). Yes, He cares, He sees our pain. And, He Jehovah God will in His due time do away with All sicknesses & death (Isaiah 33:24 & Isaiah 25:8). He is indeed a God of comfort. Oh, wow He promises the hope of seeing our precious loved ones again (John 5:28, 29) and says where (Psalms 37:11). He always keeps His word. I hope that these few Scriptures were of some comfort to you as they were to me.
