On Christmas Eve afternoon, Pastor Claude Harvey Constable, 85, of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming entered into eternal life at Granite Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Cheyenne.

Claude was the first born and only son to Fred and Etta Mae (Sisson) Constable on February 10, 1933. He graduated from Pine Bluffs High School and as a young man farmed with his father. He joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War. After returning home he married Deloris Harms. During this time he accepted Jesus as his Savior and then chose to become a Lutheran Pastor. His ministry would take them to congregations in South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and then back home to Wyoming where he ended where he started with support from his home congregation of Grace English Lutheran Church in Pine Bluffs and Zion Lutheran Church in Grover, Colorado.

Claude was an avid hunter and fisherman. He taught all of his grandchildren to fish and would gladly talk fishing with anyone who cared to participate. He loved sports especially baseball. Pastor Claude was a gentle and caring shepherd of his congregational members. He developed a strong relationship with those in his church and also in the community. He was proud to be a veteran and served as Chaplain for the local American Legion.

He will be remembered with that joyous smile and as a kind and loving pastor, teacher and friend. His family was his joy and was a dear son, husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He will be so missed by all who knew him.

Claude is preceded in death by his wife, Deloris, just 3 months earlier.

He is survived by his two children, Sandy (Steve) Rempel of Hutchinson, Kansas and Howard Constable of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Tesla (Jared) McCauley, Shelby and Torin Constable, and Garrett and Emily Rempel; three great- granddaughters; sisters, Vernetta Woodman, Alice Swaim and Betty (Ned) Stroup; and many nephews and nieces.

A funeral service will be held at his home church of Grace English Lutheran Church in Pine Bluffs on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Those attending may arrive early to visit with the family. An interment service will follow in the Pine Bluffs Cemetery.

Memorials in Claude’s memory may be made to Grace English Lutheran Church, Pine Bluffs or Zion Lutheran Church in Grover, CO.

To the Family , I would like to express how sorry to hear of your loss. The pain of losing a loved one is a pain that seemingly never goes away. However, the pain can lessen when we think of what God has promised to do for us. What comfort does he provide us? First of all, at 1 Cor 15:26 it says: "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." So God views death as an enemy and will eventually remove death. Secondly, Jesus gave us hope when at John 11:25 he said: "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:" So there is a chance to see our loved ones again under better conditions. This comfort from the Bible has helped me in dealing with the loss of my father and I hope it will help your family to some degree with your loss.

Lord, let at last Thine angels come, To Abr’ham’s bosom bear me home, That I may die unfearing; And in its narrow chamber keep My body safe in peaceful sleep Until Thy reappearing. And then from death awaken me That these mine eyes with joy may see, O Son of God, Thy glorious face, My Savior and my fount of grace, Lord Jesus Christ, My prayer attend, my prayer attend, And I will praise Thee without end.
