Charles L Samuelson passed away in peaceful dignity at his home on January 25, following a lengthy illness. He was born June 25, 1925 in the North Crow Range on a homestead, west of Cheyenne.

Charlie attended Cheyenne schools and enjoyed celebrating reunions with the Cheyenne Central class of 1943.

He was a proud 70-year member of Local 192, Engineers, Plumbers, and Pipe Fitters Union; working on several commercial contracts in Wyoming and Colorado until his retirement in 1980.

His hobbies were calf roping, golfing, fly fishing and goose hunting. He was a past member of the Cheyenne Roping Club, the Airport Golf Club, and the Cowboy Joe Club. He was an avid supporter of the Wyoming Cowboys football team, and held season tickets for over 50 years.

During World War II, he served in the U S Army, Infantry, 9th Division, 47th Regiment, L Company, landing at Utah Beach in June 1944, joining forces at the Battle of Normandy. Charles served in combat on the European front and received numerous distinguished medals including Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and after attending construction school in San Francisco, he returned to Cheyenne.

He is survived by his wife, June Casey Samuelson, her children Shannon Casey Honaker (Richard,) Kendall Casey Newman (Michael,) his step-daughter Pat Eccer (Bill.) Also several nephews and a niece as well as bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren of his wife's, June.

Charles was preceded in death by his father and mother, wife, Mildred, brothers Ken and Ed Samuelson, sister, Lou Samuelson Ulrich; as well as his special pal and companion Patrick D Casey.

A celebration of life will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, contributions honoring Charlie can be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter or the Cowboy Joe Club
