Obituary

Lawrence Lee Carpenter, 93, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 at Meadow View of Greeley.

Lawrence was born April 8, 1925 in Miller, South Dakota, a son of the late William and Mary Ella (Robertson) Carpenter.

Lawrence enlisted in the United State Navy and served during World War II in the Pacific. He married Marion (Lottine) in Crookston, Minnesota on March 21, 1948. Lawrence worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years doing construction in Wyoming and Alaska.

He was a member of the American Legion and was the 35th member to sign up for the National Insulator Association. Throughout his life, he was an avid collector of insulators, barbed wire, Wyoming license plates and orange juice reamers.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 71 years; children, Rick (Susan) Carpenter of Wyoming, Larry (Deaun) Carpenter of Nebraska, and Charlie (Kathy) Carpenter of Alaska; six grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.

A graveside service with military honors will be celebrated at the Lakeview Cemetery in Cheyenne. A private service for family will be in June. Cremation has taken place and services are under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.

I have fond memories of playing crochet each summer evening with Mr. Carpenter and neighbors. There were also great basketball and football games. He was a great neighbor and friend Tom Scheidt

My deep deep condolences to the Carpenter family: May you reflect on the precious memories of your loved one. I would like to share what helped us when our precious daughter died and later when my precious husband fell asleep in death as well. I appreciated the calls and visits from all over the U.S. But, I recall just sitting down and reading different Scriptures and meditating on them. It was so comforting to read that God cares for us personally... (1Peter 5:6, 7). Yes, He cares, He sees our pain. And, He Jehovah God will in His due time do away with All sicknesses & death (Isaiah 33:24 & Isaiah 25:8). He is indeed a God of comfort. Oh, wow He promises the hope of seeing our precious loved ones again (John 5:28, 29) and says where (Psalms 37:11). He always keeps His word. I hope that these few Scriptures were of some comfort to you as they were to me.

My memories of Lawerence include the house out Horse Creek road, his love of collecting and his vast knowledge of coins and insulators. We were always welcome when we visited and he and Marion were gracious, generous host. I send my condolences to the family and want them to know what fond memories I have of Lawerence. To the Family, I am deeply sorry to hear of your loss. Losing my parent has been difficult for me. However, I found this scripture helpful. At 2 Cor 1:3,4 it says: “3Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;4Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” Hopefully thinking about what these verses state can help your family during this time as it has for me.
