Obituary

Floyd Dean Cox, 70, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne.

Floyd was born November 27, 1948 in Ft. Collins, Colorado, a son of the late Lawrence and Freida (Rennecker) Cox.

Floyd served in the United States Army as a Green Beret where he taught paratroopers in Panama during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he attended North Eastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado where he enjoyed bareback and bull riding. It was at college where he met his wife, Jeanne Hockersmith and they married December 16, 1972 in Pine Bluffs. They moved to Wellington where he worked in construction and they later moved back to Pine Bluffs and he worked for Jack Hockersmith. He started his own trucking company and operated the business for nine years and following his wife’s death, he moved to Cheyenne and served as a CDL instructor for SAGE. Floyd enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing, camping and roping with his sons. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Floyd is survived by his three sons, Cody (Joeleen) Cox of Billings, MT, Curtis (Kelsey) Cox of Manzanola, CO, and Clayton Cox of Pine Bluffs; two siblings, Larry and Susan; six grandchildren, Cora, Coy, Cameron, Jace, Dylan and Dalton; and his fiancée, Kathy.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanne Cox on September 9, 1999; and sister, Barbara.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. My deep deep condolences to the Cox family: May you reflect on the precious memories of your loved one. I would like to share what helped us when our precious daughter died and later when my precious husband fell asleep in death as well. I appreciated the calls and visits from all over the U.S. but I recall just sitting down and reading different Scriptures and meditating on them. It was so comforting to read that God cares for us personally... (1Peter 5:6, 7). Yes, He cares, He sees our pain. And, He Jehovah God will in His due time do away with All sicknesses & death (Isaiah 33:24 & Isaiah 25:8). He is indeed a God of comfort. Oh, wow He promises the hope of seeing our precious loved ones again (John 5:28, 29) and says where (Psalms 37:11). He always keeps His word. I hope that these few Scriptures were of some comfort to you as they were to me.

I am sorry for the lost. Floyd was one of my instructors at sage, he made every day worth waking up and going to class. He never would let me give up on getting my CDL he pushed me to keep going and was always willing to stay late or make extra appointments to help me. Floyd you were the best now it's your time to drive that semi through the golden gates.

I had the honor to meet Floyd on his Fishing trips up to Montana, he always took the time to stop and see us at the office. He did a Great Job as an Instructor for Sage and I always enjoyed working with him. Our thoughts are with his family and Loved ones, he truly will be missed.
