Aaron Lopez

Aaron Thomas Lopez, 21, died September 5, 2010 at Glendo Reservoir while coming to the aid of a fisherman. He was born January 6, 1989, and lived in Cheyenne all his life. He is the beloved son of Tom Lopez and Jeanne (Madrid) Lopez, brother Mario and sister Desiree. He was a student of LCCC and the University of Wyoming majoring in wildlife biology. At the time of his death, he was an employee of the Game and Fish as an invasive species inspector, and previously as a ranch hand, as well as doing contracting work for his father. He is a graduate of Central High School, and played football, basketball, and excelled in wrestling. He loved all animals, snowboarding, skateboarding, doing artwork, fishing, and the great outdoors. He had an infectious laugh and will be greatly missed by his family, his loving girlfriend Kayla Lyday, and all his many friends. He is survived by his grandparents Fred and Sally Madrid, Aunts and Uncles Mike and Emily Madrid, Joe Madrid, Marianne McGhee, Monica and Kevin Corley, John Madrid, Julio Martinez, Joe and Pat Lopez, Dolly and Ernie Roybal, Louis Lopez, Marie and Bill Crader, Margie Lopez, Mary Lou Garcia, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Isador and Josephine Lopez, Uncles Richard and Daniel Lopez, and Aunt Dora Martinez. Pallbearers will be Lorenzo Hurtado, Sean Corley, Ryan McGhee, James Beierle, Clay Brown, Evan Lawson, Paul Dunlevy, Benjamin Escobedo, and Austin Sanford. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at St. Mary's Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. with Father Gary Ruzicka. The family would especially like to thank the following organizations and the countless volunteers who worked long-hard hours, as well as providing comfort and support to our family during the search of our son.
