Alan Keith Bennett of Longmont, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 11 during the last leg of the Cowboy Tough Adventure Race at Curt Gowdy State Park near Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was 43. Alan was born in Lander, Wyoming, on July 15, 1975, to Jack K. and Mary L. Freese Bennett. He graduated from Lander Valley High School and earned a master's degree in computer science from the University of Wyoming, where he met his wife, Jamie Kathleen Stratton of Rawlins, Wyoming. He went on to complete another master's degree in business administration at Colorado State University. Alan enjoyed a very successful career in the computer industry. Alan and Jamie were married on Aug. 19, 2000, and had one daughter, Alyssa Caylee, who was born on May 8, 2004 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Alan was a devoted husband and father, taking pride in Alyssa's accomplishments. Alan will be remembered as a computer genius with a great sense of humor and a master of sharp wit. He loved the outdoors, photography, his work, traveling the world with his family, and challenging himself in sports like volleyball, mountain biking and Spartan Races. But most of all he loved his family. In addition to his wife and daughter, Alan is survived by his parents, of Wright, Wyoming; a brother, Brian (Angela), of Appleton, Wisconsin; a sister, Tammy (David) Van Vleet, of Wright, Wyoming; and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19, at the Roosevelt Park Pavilion, 725 8th Avenue, Longmont, Colorado.
