Albert W. "Al" Leichliter, 93, passed away at his home in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on February 23, 2017. Al was born January 31, 1924, in Norton, Kansas. Al was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather and a long-respected businessman in Cheyenne, where he had resided since 1967. He retired from Safeway Stores, Inc. He served in the US Army in World War II, participating in every major European campaign from Normandy forward. He was an active Kiwanis member for most of his adult life. Al is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Jean Leichliter; two children, Kirk and Pam Leichliter of Greeley, CO and Mark and Patti Leichliter of Lakeside, MT; six grandchildren, Ryan, Amy, Jennifer, Cody, Abbey, and Sydney; and four great-grandchildren. A memory service will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
