Albert Rostron

March 1, 1929 — April 21, 2016

Albert Douglas "Doug" Rostron, 87, passed away on April 21, 2016, in Cheyenne after a brief illness. Doug was born on March 1, 1929, in LaHarpe, Illinois, the only child of The Reverend Albert C. Rostron and his wife, Sarah. Shortly after his birth, the family moved back to England until Doug was 7. The family then took positions in Methodist churches in the western United States. Doug grew up in Thompson Falls, Montana, Shelby, Montana, Thermopolis, Wyoming and graduated from high school in Douglas, Wyoming. After graduation, Doug joined the United States Air Force and served active duty and then with the Wyoming Air National Guard for 40 years before retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. Doug also worked as a Photogrammetrist for the Wyoming Highway Department until his retirement. Doug enjoyed custom cars, with a special fondness for fast ones, often owning several at one time. He loved football, especially the Oakland Raiders. Doug showed his pride for Raider Nation constantly in everything he wore and hanging his banner out after every victory. Doug loved animals, cats in particular, and always had one as a companion. Doug is survived by his daughter, Mavis Earnshaw and her husband, John; his grandsons, Justin Earnshaw (Shannon Skelcher) and Dylan Earnshaw, all of Cheyenne; and his feline companion, Pooh. Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife and lifelong friend, Avis D. Rostron. Doug's longtime request was that no funeral services be held. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Friends who wish may contribute to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter as Doug always adopted shelter cats.
