Alberta Schwartz

Mrs. Alberta Ruth (Holt) Schwartz, 97, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away June 29, 2011, at the Cheyenne Health Care Center. Mrs. Schwartz was born December 15, 1913, in Johnstown, Nebraska, a daughter of the late John Albert and Mina (Keister) Holt. She and her family lived in Johnstown until the Great Depression. She married David Schwartz and they owned and operated a furniture business in Cheyenne, while also owning and managing apartment buildings for many years. She loved traveling and spent many winters in Acapulco where she enjoyed water skiing into her early 70s. She and her good friend, Andy Rogers, later retired to Mesa, Arizona, and enjoyed the winter months as "snow birds". Alberta is survived by her long-time companion, Andy Rogers of Cheyenne and his son, Bill Rogers of Hayden, CO; and her cousins, John McLean of Sheridan, WY, Tom McLean of Denver, CO, Mary Lou Burgess of Mesa, AZ, and Carol Cooper of Mesa, AZ. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Schwartz; and a sister, Louise E. (Holt) Gilliam. Services will be private. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
