Mrs. Alice Black Reese, 94, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. Mrs. Reese was born May 27, 1917, in Alliance, Nebraska, a daughter of the late Ode and Hilda (Pryor) Black. Alice graduated from Brownell Hall High School in Omaha, NE, and attended the University of Nebraska where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She also served as Countess at AkSarBen in Omaha. She married Carroll H. Reese in 1940, and they lived in Oshkosh, NE, and Ogallala, NE, where she and her husband owned the Reese Store and farm/ranch operations. In 2007, she moved to Cheyenne to live with her daughter. Alice loved to hunt for arrowheads and visit with customers at Wyoming Home. Her other interests included fishing, hunting and needlework. She also enjoyed being involved with the Daughter of the American Revolution, Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She will be remembered as an incredible woman who loved her family and many friends. Alice is survived by her daughter, Susan Miller of Cheyenne; two grandchildren, Amber Reese and Joe Reese; her nephew, Arnold Black, Jr.; and her niece, Lonnie Reese. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carroll H. Reese; her son, Mert Reese; and her brother, Arnold Black. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Alliance with The Reverend Robin Chance. A reception will immediately follow the service at Newberry's Common Ground. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
