Alice "Vicki" Meuli

Alice Victoria "Vicki" Parker Meuli, 81, was born in Coffeyville, Kansas on December 17, 1937. She was the daughter of Hazel Sandon and Herbert Dwight Parker. Vicki grew up in Coffeyville as an only child. Vicki was an accomplished musician and was proud to be a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp at Coffeyville High School. After graduating high school, she went on to Baker College in Baldwin, Kansas and joined the Tri Delta Sorority. She attended Baker for two years, transferred to Southern Methodist University in Texas for a semester, then transferred to the University of Kansas (KU) in Lawrence, where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. While attending KU, Vicki met Larry Meuli, her devoted husband of 58 years. Vicki and Larry were married on June 30, 1960 in Coffeyville. Vicki worked as a preschool teacher while Larry attended medical school in Kansas City. After Larry graduated from medical school, Vicki spent her time raising three children, Matt, Mindy and Marlo. The family moved several times during this period while Larry completed his internship, residency and military service. In 1970, the family moved to Loveland, Colorado where Vicki tried her hand at several professions including selling insurance, realtor, and restaurant hostess. The family moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1980. In Cheyenne, Vicki taught at Head Start and then became a teacher at Baggs Elementary School for 17 years. At Baggs, she taught kindergarten, 4th and 6th grades. She was a strong advocate for children and was appointed by Governor Geringer to the Daycare Certification Board. She also helped to promote Safe Kids Wyoming. Vicki and Larry established two scholarships at LCCC, one for a fine arts student and one for a nursing student to help promote and support their passions for the arts and health. After retiring from teaching, she enjoyed attended the Laramie County Retired Education Personnel meetings. Vicki was an accomplished singer and actress. She also became very involved with SacSoc Singers, City Sounds, and Cheyenne Little Theater. The two roles that she was most proud of were Miss Hannigan in "Annie" and Dolly in "Hello Dolly". She sang in the First Presbyterian Church choir, where she was a member for over 36 years. She also served as a Deacon in the church and enjoyed being part of Friendship Mariners. Her deep religious faith guided her daily living. She served as president of the Wyoming Medical Society Auxiliary for several years and relished being a PEO member of Chapter C. Vicki loved to travel and visited every continent except Antarctica. She particularly enjoyed vacationing in Mexico with her family. Due to her declining health later in life, she was limited in her ability to participate in the many activities she enjoyed and was comforted by her religious faith. She was able to continue traveling to Mexico each year and was able to enjoy the sun, ocean, and Mexican culture. Vicki died at home on Thursday, February 21, 2019 in the loving arms of her husband. She is survived by her husband, Larry; son and wife, Matt and Kellie Meuli; two daughters and their husbands, Mindy Meuli and Bryan Clerkin and Marlo Meuli and Paul Mann; and six grandchildren, Parker and Michael Meuli, Maggie and Sean Clerkin, and Arrie and Alex Mann. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Vicki's memory to the First Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
