Allen Ward

Allen P. Ward, 85, of Cheyenne died June 27, 2013 at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. He was born March 5, 1928 in Thorndike, ME to Lawrence and Helen Ward. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He and Mary were married on April 14, 1989 in Cheyenne. He was retired from Consolidated Freightways as a truck driver. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #257, the Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #6, VFW Post 1881 and the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Ward of Cheyenne; children, Douglas Ward of Chico, TX and Sharon Caldwell of Stratton, ME; step-children, Sharon Rhodes of Frenchtown, MT and Rick Rhodes of Missoula, MT; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Buddy Ward of Thorndike, ME. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 3 brothers. Those who wish may contribute to the American Legion Post #6. Celebration of Life will be at the American Legion Post 6 at 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening. A special thank you to the VA staff for the wonderful care you gave Allen these last few months. Cremation has taken place under the care of Schrader Funeral Home.
