Antonia Floripa Andrade, 78, of Cheyenne was called home by our Heavenly Father on March 5, 2011 in Cheyenne. She was surrounded by her loving family who she treasured most of all. She was known as Flora and to some family members as Lipa. She was born on July 5, 1932 in Buena Vista, New Mexico, to Luciano Benavidez and Pricilla (Sanchez) Gurule. She married Jose R. "Soto" Andrade on May 14, 1977 in Cheyenne, Wyoming and resided here since 1947. At 14, she began working at the Mayflower Restaurant and later at the Owl Inn and Plains Hotel. While she was raising children, she was also employed as a dispatcher for the Yellow Cab Company. Flora was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral. She volunteered with several organizations for nearly 55 years, 25 of those calling Bingo at the Cheyenne Senior Center. She was also involved with Very Special Arts, The American Legion Department and belonged to their Auxiliary. She served as a Room Mother for her 8 children and helped with the schools' Throat Culture Program. She was an avid baseball fan, keeping track of players and their team's statistics. Of course, her favorite teams were the Colorado Rockies and the Braves. She enjoyed the game so much that she played on a city softball team that included her daughters and a granddaughter. Besides the love for God and family, her passions in life included reading, gardening, painting, music and having her hair done by her granddaughters. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her as a strong and compassionate woman, who had a beautiful smile and loved to laugh. Flora is survived by her loving husband, Jose R. "Soto" Andrade of Cheyenne; her daughters, Cleo (Ron) Esquibel, Peggy (Eddie) Salas and Leslie Andrade, all of Cheyenne, Linda Hernandez Price and Debra (Rodolfo) Martin of Fort Collins, Colorado, and sons, Peter Hernandez of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Ramon (Irma) Andrade of Cheyenne; a brother, Joe A. (Nellie) Sanchez of Cheyenne; 25 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luciano Benavidez, and Pricilla Sanchez Gurule; sons, Paul Jr. Hernandez and John A. Hernandez, grandsons, Rodolfo Jr. Martin, Joseph P. Roybal and Adam I. Roybal; a brother, John B. Sanchez; and sisters, Dominga O. Mares and Ruperta Gurule. A Funeral Liturgy will be Friday at 10:30 at St. Mary's Cathedral.
