Ardella "Idella" Potter

Ardella "Idella" Potter, 83, of Cheyenne went home to be with her Heavenly Father on February 20, 2016, in Johnstown, Colorado. Idella was born March 18, 1932, in Parkdale, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Will and Georgia Beins. She was later adopted by her step-father, Fred Starks. She came from a family of sharecroppers. She moved to Cheyenne in 1955 with her husband, Percy L. Johnson, Sr. In 1963, she married Lewis Potter. Idella worked as a housekeeper, a nanny and a teacher's aide. In early 1980s, she worked at DePaul Hospital and trained as a caregiver and later became an independent caregiver until 2011. Idella dedicated her life to caring for others. She received Christ at an early age. She was a longtime member of Allen Chapel AME Church, member of the Lucille Phillips Missionary Society, and member of the Oak Leaf Chapter # 6 Order of Eastern Star. Her hobbies included shopping, gardening and meeting new people. Idella is survived by nine children, Percy L. Johnson (Catherine) of Waukegan, IL, Rosie White-Forbes (Andre) of Cheyenne, Irene Dizadare of Cheyenne, Jessie Mae Jones of Columbus, GA, Sandra Ledbetter of Casper, WY, Maria Sherman (Harold) of Topeka, KS, Barbara Johnson of Cheyenne, Bill Johnson (Stephanie) of Houston, TX, and Dianne Sims and Colorado Springs, CO; 30 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and 16 brothers and sisters. Visitation will held on Friday, February 26, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A memory service will be celebrated on Saturday, February 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. An interment service will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
