Mr. Armando "Barney" B. Gallegos, 88, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 12, 2012, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. Mr. Gallegos was born January 27, 1923, in San Luis, Colorado, as son of the late Bernabe and Isabella (Madrid) Gallegos. Barney had been a resident of Cheyenne since 1960 and lived previously in Ft. Collins. He worked in construction for a number of years, but also was a self-taught upholsterer and enjoyed teaching others how to upholster furniture. His other interests included playing the accordion and guitar, dancing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Barney is survived by seven children, Dorothy Gallegos, Geraldine Gonzalez, Armando Gallegos, Jr., Dianna Cajavilca, Andy "Rusty" Gallegos, Joey Gallegos, and Barbara Gallegos, all of Cheyenne; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Clara (Rivera) Gallegos. A Vigil for the Deceased is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel with Father Gary J. Ruzicka officiating. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, January 19th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with Father Gary Ruzicka as celebrant. A private family interment will be held in Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor, Colorado, at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
