Baldamar Cristino Gonzales "Chris"

October 3, 1941 — February 4, 2023

Baldamar Cristino Gonzales (Chris, BC) of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away at the age of 81, on February 4th at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer.

Baldamar was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on October 3rd, 1941.  He grew up in Rawlins, WY and graduated from Rawlins High School in 1960.  Soon after high school he graduated from Casper College and then went onto the University of Wyoming.   He then began his military service at Fort Ord, CA, with the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1967.  Shortly after, he started working for the Union Pacific Railroad as a telegrapher and then as a conductor.  Baldamar and his family moved from Rawlins to Cheyenne in 1993, and he retired from the UP in 2005 after 38 years.

Chris was a proud member of St. Joseph’s catholic church in Cheyenne.  He was a very active billiards player in the area, playing in leagues and multiple tournaments.  He enjoyed playing poker, or watching it on television, as well as going to Blackhawk, CO.  Chris loved music, dancing, reading, working outdoors, watching sports, especially mixed martial arts and football.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, neighbors, etc., and this was always done with a humorous demeanor that will never be forgotten.  Dad was a loving, caring man that we are all going to miss dearly; truly one of a kind.

Baldamar is survived by Ruth, his loving wife of 54 years; son Stephen Gonzales of Denver CO; daughter Karla Gonzales of Cheyenne and son Gary Gonzales of Fort Collins, CO; 4 grandchildren, Brandon Gonzales of Boston, MA and Niko Gonzales of Denver, CO; Damon Rohwer, Brevyn Martinez both of Cheyenne and 2 great-grandchildren Layla and Cameron Rohwer; Brother Corky Gonzales (Gloria) of Broomfield, CO; sister Cora Avila (Moises) of Rock Springs, WY.  Gary Abeyta of San Francisco, CA; Lila Abeyta and family of Co. Springs, CO.  Brother-in-laws Abe DeHerrera (Roberta), Manual Herrera (Esther), Steve Tollis (Betty):    sister-in-laws Gloria Horne and Angie Watson all of Cheyenne; and many loving nieces and nephews.  Baldamar was preceded in death by his parents, Salomon and Isabel Gonzales; and a brother Salomon “Foxy” Gonzales Jr. all of Rawlins, WY.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
