Barbara Murray

May 5, 1931 — May 14, 2015

Barbara Bourne Murray, "Baba", died peacefully surrounded by family on May 14, 2015. Barbara was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on May 5, 1931. She graduated from Cheyenne Central High School and the University of Wyoming, earning a degree with honors in Medical Technology. On October 3, 1953, she married the love of her life Edward F. "Ned" Murray Jr., and together they shared a lifetime devoted to each other, family, faith, and the great state of Wyoming. Barbara had many interests and she was most passionate about protecting life. After her husband died, she worked tirelessly for Right to Life throughout the state. She also pursued her love for art and painting. Barbara was active in the community, enjoying fellowship in a variety of organizations: Sacred Heart Prayer Group, Cursillo, Bishop's Guild, Civic League, Pi Beta Phi Alumni, Questers, Cheyenne Frontier Days Buckle Club, and her tennis group. One of her greatest joys was bringing people together at her lively home, Peppermint City. Barbara's genuine love for people was at the heart of whatever she did. Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ned; her parents, Ann and Chris Bourne; and her brother, Christopher. Barbara is survived by her sister, Joan Good of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; her eight children, Beth (Bill) Edwards, Laura Murray, Kathleen Murray, Ed (Caren) Murray, Julie (Tom) Tait, Mary (Kurt) Connolly, Christopher "Critter" (Judy) Murray, Amy (Rick) Skinner; her twenty-eight grandchildren; and her three great-grandchildren.
