Barbara Jean Walden, age 87, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away in Cheyenne, Wyoming on March 29. Barbara was born to James Harvey and Susan Adeline Cook in Christian County, Kentucky. The youngest of ten children, Barbara was raised on the family farm with five brothers and four sisters. She loved sharing lively stories of life on the farm with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in later years. Barbara attended school in Christian County where her father was the Superintendent of Schools, something she was very proud of. After graduating from high school in 1949, Barbara moved to St. Louis to attend nursing school. She proudly received her diploma from Missouri Baptist Hospital in 1954 and later worked for Veterans hospitals before working at hospitals in Chinle and Tuba City Arizona. After retiring, she moved to Colorado and then Wyoming. Barbara was a talented quilter who lovingly made quilts for her family which will be forever cherished by her family. Barbara is survived by her three children, Mark (Judy), Laura (Mickey) and Brad (Pam); seven grandchildren, Tori, Hollie, William, Lauren, Lindsay, Ben and Sarah; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Elizabeth and Emmie. A memory service will be held on Saturday, April 7, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at Beth El Cemetery.
