Bernetta Ogle

February 4, 1930 — April 17, 2019

Bernetta Evadale Goertz-Ogle, 89, was born February 4, 1930, the tenth child of Cornelius and Lena Goertz. She attended country school for the first eight years of her education. After her mother passed away on April 26, 1944, Bernetta moved to El Cajon, California, in 1946 with her father and his new wife Katherine. Bernetta lived with them for six months before returning to the family farm near Slater, Wyoming, to cook for a few of her brothers and their hired men. Later, her sister-in-law, Anne Goertz, made arrangements for Bernetta to live in Wheatland, Wyoming, where she attended Wheatland High School and graduated in 1947. She received her diploma from Lawrance Beauty School in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on February 11, 1950. Bernetta then returned to Wheatland to open a beauty shop with her friend Doris. On June 22, 1952, Bernetta married James Ross Ogle at the Wheatland Methodist Church, and the couple made their home on the Ogle place. Jim and Bernetta purchased their own farm ten miles north of Burns, Wyoming, in 1953, where they built their family home. Four children were born to this union: Betty Jo, Kathy Lynn, Carol Sue, and Gary Lee. Bernetta loved her family and her church family at Golden Prairie Baptist Church. Bernetta Ogle was ushered into the presence of her Lord on April 17, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Ogle; her parents, Cornelius and Lena Goertz; her brothers and sisters, Mary Olmstead, Harry Goertz, Leroy Goertz, Alma Cozad, Rachel Redding, Jacob Goertz, Naomi Wiggam, Mannuss Goertz, Albert Goertz and Arthur Goertz. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Jo (Mark) Stiffney, Kathy (Merlyn) Henry, Carol (Dennis) McCoy, and her son, Gary (Judi) Ogle; 12 Grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Donations in Bernetta's name may be made to Golden Prairie Baptist Church. Memorials services will be Saturday 2:00 p.m. at Golden Prairie Baptist Church. A private interment will take place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
