Bertha Hattan

Mrs. Bertha L. (Jenkins) Hattan, 97, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014, at the Life Care Center of Cheyenne. Mrs. Hattan was born July 5, 1917, in Cheyenne, a daughter of the late Amos and Della E. (Stafford) Jenkins. Bertha was very proud of her heritage. Her family was descendents of Dutch Colony settlers in New York and the tobacco fields of Virginia. She was also the daughter of a Wyoming homesteader. She will be remembered for as a wonderful homemaker, caring for her home and her children. She was also an excellent gardener. Bertha is survived by two daughters, Janet Hattan of Cheyenne, and Julia Norlin of Gillette, WY; a sister, Sussie Cole of Paramount, CA; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred E. Hattan; three sons, Harry Hattan, Fred Hattan, and James Hattan; a daughter, Judy Hattan; five brothers; and four sisters. A memory service will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at the Chugwater Methodist Church. An interment service will follow at the Iowa Flats Cemetery in Chugwater.
