Betty Evelyn Marquart was born in 1928, in Cheyenne to Joseph and Dora Marquart. She was one of five siblings, all of whom preceded her in death: Mary Stanfield (Clyde), Joseph Marquart (Mildred), Robert Marquart (Pat) and Louise Kaiser (John). She lived in Cheyenne her entire life, working for many years at Mountain Bell. It was there that she met Milton Briggs, who became such an important part of her life in her later years. After retiring from Mountain Bell, she very courageously went back to school, receiving her LPN from LCCC, when she was 60. She worked in private physicians’ offices for a time, before becoming a volunteer at Davis Hospice Center. She enjoyed her time there more than any other work she had done, and the people she worked with there, both staff and patients, said how wonderful she was in that role. She loved to fish and go out to dinner. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Munn (Richard), and is survived by daughters Betty Mayhew (Bob), Sherry Breider (Mike) and Sue Chilton (Dan) as well as seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her beloved companion, Milton Briggs.
A service of remembrance will be held at First United Methodist Church, 108 E 18th Street, Cheyenne, Wyoming on Wednesday, February 7 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Davis Hospice Center, 6000 Sycamore Road, Cheyenne, WY 82009 would be welcome.
