Betty Marquette

Mrs. Betty C. Marquette, 91, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the Life Care Center of Cheyenne. Mrs. Marquette was born February 7, 1921, in Wauchula, Florida, a daughter of the late John H. and Minnie O. (Chapman) Conlee. Betty worked as a counselor for the Juvenile Domestic Relations Court in Charlotte, NC, and later for Santa Monica High School in Santa Monica, CA, until her retirement in 1978. She enjoyed her travels to every continent, and she especially enjoyed her volunteer work which included making birthday cakes for veterans and seniors. She was actively involved in the Masonic orders and was a Past Royal Matron of Amaranth, Past Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine, and a member of Mizpah Chapter #36, OES, Daughters of the Nile and X-WJC. She was also an alumna of Queens University of Charlotte, NC, and a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Betty is survived by two sons, John C. Marquette and wife Sandy of Cheyenne, and Michael S. Marquette and wife, Jeanette of Fountain, FL; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, John S. Marquette; and an older brother and sister. Services and interment will be held in Manasota Memorial Park Cemetery in Bradenton, Florida, at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy in Betty's memory may be made to Cheyenne Animal Shelter, 800 Southwest Drive, Cheyenne, WY 82007. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home, Cheyenne.
