Bill B. Blair, 83, passed away on December 7, 2011. Bill, the only son of William Robinson Blair and Evelyn Lenore (Thomas) Blair, was born on November 8, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was educated in Tulsa public schools and then the Oklahoma Military Academy at Claremore. He attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman and completed his CPA credentials. In 1954 he married Violet Lenora Haskit and they made their home in Tulsa. After extensive training in Washington, D.C., Bill became, in 1956, a Special Agent for the Treasury Dept, in the Intelligence Division of the Internal Revenue Service. He was involved in a variety of investigations, some undercover, in Oklahoma and New York City. After Bill reached the top grade as an Intelligence Agent and the work became more administrative and less investigative, he and the family left Tulsa in 1968 for Dallas, TX. He served as one of the first Federal Sky Marshalls, along with other agents pulled from Federal agencies, until newly-trained sky marshals were available. Bill began work as a Federal Special Agent in the Alcohol Tax, Tobacco, and Firearms agency. He succeeded in this new agency and enjoyed the work very much, going on to become the ATF Resident Agent in Charge of Wyoming in 1971. He specialized in explosives and bomb triggering devices. Bill and his family settled permanently in Cheyenne and remained here after his retirement at the end of 1978. A new career opened for Bill after retirement from the ATF. He completed an intensive training in polygraph administration and reading and started Blair Polygraph in Cheyenne. He conducted private, individual and company tests and investigations, as well as free-lance jobs for city and county agencies. He enjoyed this work and the many new personal friendships and professional relationships that he made. He closed his private service in 1999. In 2004 he and Vi celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Bill was a life-long hunter of deer, elk and antelope. He was an avid gun collector with an encyclopedic knowledge of old west firearms. He belonged to the Single Action Shooters Society, Cheyenne Kiwanis, the Retired Law Enforcement Officers and the Silent Witness program. Bill is survived by his daughter Rhonda Lynn Blair and son-in-law Thomas Faulkner of Pullman, WA and his son William Brent Blair and daughter-in-law Kathy, and grandchildren Aleka and William Blair, all of Casper, WY. He was preceded in death by his wife Violet in 2010. Memorial Services will be held on December 19, 2011, at 10 AM at Schraders Funeral Home in Cheyenne. Internment will take place at Memorial Park, Tulsa, beside his wife Violet.
