Bonnie Allen

October 19, 1926 — July 7, 2012

Bonnie Jean Allen (Roberts), age 85, passed away at Cheyenne Health Care on July 7, 2012. Bonnie was born on October 19, 1926 in Wheeler, WI. Shortly after, her family moved to the Sacramento Valley in California. After high school she began working as a civilian during WWII for the Navy in San Diego. After the war she continued to live and work in California, moving north to San Francisco. Here she met Cheyenne native, Robert D. Allen, an infantry captain in the Army. They married at the Presidio of San Francisco on April 22, 1951. After their marriage they moved to Cheyenne where they lived the next eight years. While in Cheyenne she gave birth to her only child, Michael. She and Bob moved back to northern California where she worked and retired from McGraw-Hill Book Company. After Bob's death on April 8, 1990, she moved back to Cheyenne where she lived until her death. Bonnie is survived by her son Michael Allen, daughter-in-law Patricia Allen and grandson Brett Allen. She also left behind her brother Richard Roberts of Richmond, IN and his wife Ginger, and her step-daughter Judi Allen of Anaheim, CA. She was preceded in death by her sister Ramona Gauthier. Bonnie was an avid volunteer, working at the Marin County Humane Society, Friends of the Library, Hamilton Air Force Base thrift store and the UMC East gift store. She was a dedicated lover of animals, especially dogs. Donations can be made in her memory to: Therapy Dogs Inc at 1919 Morrie Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82001 or the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. A celebration of Life will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Schrader Reception Rooms. A private family interment will be at F.E. Warren AFB Cemetery.
