Bonnie Maki

January 21, 1948 — March 22, 2014

Bonnie Carlene (Miller) Maki, 66, of Cheyenne, passed away peacefully at home and joined our Lord in Heaven on March 22, 2014.. Mrs. Maki was born January 21, 1948, in Cheyenne, the daughter of H. Warren Miller and Alice Lucille (Berryman) Miller. She was a resident of the Golden Prairie Community until her graduation from high school. Bonnie graduated from Albin High School in 1966, and chose a rewarding career in the health care field. She received her nursing degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. After moving to Denver in the late 70's, she enjoyed a successful career with Craig Rehabilitation Hospital. She married her husband and best friend of twenty- five years, Michael Maki, on August 4, 1988. Moving back to Cheyenne in 2000, Bonnie continued her nursing career, working in a local clinic providing care for Comea House clients. Her hobbies included a love of puzzles, spending time at their mountain cabin, and her daily inspirational bible readings. Bonnie was an active member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and a universal prayer warrior for anyone needing prayer. Bonnie's upbeat attitude was contagious to all around her. Challenged from the age of ten with type-one diabetes, and then more recently diagnosed with Multiple Scoliosis, she always had an optimistic cheerful attitude. She was determined to enjoy life to the fullest and on her own terms. She passionately cared for her family members and friends by being involved in their daily lives. She will be remembered as a loving wife, sister, mother, aunt and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, including her furry companion, Sonny. Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband, Michael of Cheyenne; brother, Jim Miller and wife, Susan, of Pine Bluffs; sister, Lonna Maylone and husband, Michael, of Arco, Idaho; three grandchildren; former brother- in- law, Boyd Wiggam and wife, Mitzi, of Cheyenne; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Aaron Becker; sister, Rhonda Wiggam; and infant brother, William Miller. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home.
