Candelaria "Connie" Ramirez Hays, 97, of Cheyenne died December 18, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs, WY. She was born February 2, 1917 in Silver Crown, WY to Eligio and Felipa Gonzalez. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, and the Bishops Guild. Connie refurbished old dolls and stuffed animals for St. Mary's Christmas Toy Drive. She was also named "Citizen of the Year" in 2004 by the G.I Forum. She is survived by her children Gilbert (Mary)Ramirez of Cheyenne, Leonard (Elsie) Ramirez of West Valley City, UT, Teresa (Neal) Sanchez of Greeley, CO, John (Mary) Ramirez of Mesa AZ, Michael (Doretha) Ramirez of Green River, Robert (Jean) Ramirez of Cheyenne, Joseph Ramirez of Cheyenne ,Victoria Lopez of Mesa, AZ, Robert (Zonie) Hays of Denver, and Roy (Marylou) Hays of Redmond, WA; 64 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her first husband, Juan M. Ramirez; second husband Chester A. Hays; daughters, Carmen Brady and Cathleen Wolf; brothers, Jesse Gonzalez, Delores "Coke" Gonzalez and Jim Gonzalez and grandsons, Justin Ramirez and Victor Ramirez. Visitation will be Monday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Schrader Funeral Home. A Vigil for the Deceased will be Monday 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. A Funeral Liturgy will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with burial to follow in Olivet Cemetery. Services are under the care of Schrader Funeral Home.
