Carmie Sara

Carmie L. Sara, 90, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Northern Colorado Medical Center hospice unit in Greeley, CO. Carmie was born August 18, 1920, in Salida, CO. She was born to Dominic and Lucia Martallero. She moved to Cheyenne in 1940 and married William Sara on November 15, 1941. She spent much of her time helping William on the ranch with the Sara Dairy. They were married just shy of 64 years. She had two sons, Michael Joseph in 1944 and Dominic Anthony in 1947. Carmie loved life. She traveled the world, including Italy, Israel, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Egypt, Hawaii, and countless cruises. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carmie came from a large Italian family and married another. Family and religion was very important to her. She married William at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for 70 years. She attended a 30 day pilgrimage staying in convents around the world with Fr. O'Neil and her sister Josephine. She is survived by her grand children, Leticia Sara and husband, Randall Draves, Amanda Pelto, and husband, Robert Jr., and Mario Sara, and wife, Lisa; her daughter-in-law, Julie Sara; four great-grandchildren, Sara Scritchfield, Kaylie Pelto, Alex Pelto and Antonio Dominic Sara; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Sara on Aug. 29, 2005, daughter-in-law, Patricia Sara on Sept. 22, 2007; son, Dominic Anthony Sara on March 20, 2010; son, Michael Joseph Sara on Aug. 24,, 2010; and eight siblings. Pallbearers will be Mario Sara, Robert Pelto Jr., Randall Draves, Joseph Sara, Brent Martini, and Stephen Ferro. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2011, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home with a Vigil for the Deceased to follow at 6:30 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 29th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with Father Gary J. Ruzicka as celebrant. An interment service will follow at Olivet Cemetery.
