Charlene "Char" Wakefield

Charlene Mae "Char" Wakefield, 79, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away February 13, 2017, at Life Care Center of Cheyenne. Char was born March 11, 1937, in Rose Hill, Iowa, a daughter of the late Yelke "Charlie" and Ada Spoelstra. Char enjoyed camping, reading and she especially enjoyed spending time at the family cabin. She was an active member of the Women of the Moose for many years, holding many chairs including the office of Senior Regent. Char is survived by sons, David (Cheryl) Roose and Russell (Cindy) Wakefield, both of Rock Springs, WY; two daughters, Kim (Bob) Wakefield, and Launa (Carlos) Wakefield, both of Cheyenne; brothers, Bernard (Cobie) Spoelstra, Clarence (Nancy) Spoelstra, Charles (Nela) Spoelstra, Allen Spoelstra, and Gary (Beth) Spoelstra, all of Iowa; sister, Mary Olivier of Iowa; brothers-in-law, Harvey (Kathy) Wakefield of Kemmerer, WY, and George (Bobbie) Wakefield of Green River, WY; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Char was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Charles Roose and James L. Wakefield; daughter, Lawna Joy; brother, Marvin Spoelstra; and a great-granddaughter. A memory service will be celebrated on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A reception will follow in the Schrader Reception Center. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
