Charles Vaughn

Mr. Charles William Vaughn, 83, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Vaughn was born October 24, 1928, in Columbia, Missouri, a son of the late Charles H. and Lillian A. (Estes) Vaughn. Charles resided in Columbia until he enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to Torrington, WY, and lived in Torrington for four years until moving to Colorado Springs, CO, where he worked as a meat cutter. He moved to Cheyenne in 1962, working as the produce manager for the F.E. Warren Air Force Base commissary until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed many hobbies, particularly fishing and camping. He also enjoyed shooting on the shooting range. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ada M. (Hirz) Vaughn of Cheyenne; four children, Greg Aydt and wife, Sam, of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Lillian Gosbee and husband, Joe, of Cheyenne, Kay Melcher and husband, Rodney, of Cheyenne, and Harry Vaughn and wife, Pam, of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Vaughn. A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Schrader Chapel. An interment service will be held at the Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Schrader Reception Facility. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy in Charles' memory may be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, 800 Southwest Drive, Cheyenne, WY 82007.
