Dr. Charlie Meyer Charlie passed away in his home on February 3, 2011 with his wife, Rita, at his side. He was born in Rawlins, Wyoming on March 22, 1923 to Leo and Marguerite Wallace Meyer. Charlie grew up in Rawlins and attended Regis Jesuit High in Denver, Colorado. After one year at Regis College, he joined the United States Navy and served as a Navy Corpsman in the Solomon Islands during WWII. Charlie received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Creighton University and went on to receive his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Creighton Dental School. He practiced dentistry for many years in Laramie, Wyoming and Omaha, Nebraska. Charlie founded the Department of Community and Preventive Dentistry at the Boyne School of Dental Science at Creighton. He served as the Dental Health Director for the State of Wyoming from 1992 to 2003. His passion in life was caring for others, especially children and those less able to provide for themselves. Charlie is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rita, and his 7 children; Charlie, Katie, Patrick (Molly), Mike (Dana), Peggy (Terry), DeDe (Bill) and Tim (LaReine). He will be missed by many including his sister Margaret Mary White of Denver, 15 grandchildren, 5 great-grand children and many other relatives and friends especially his sister-in-law, Kay, and life long friend, Jacqueline Ferrall. Vigil for the Deceased 7 p.m. Tuesday, Schrader Funeral Home in Cheyenne. Funeral Liturgy 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Mary’s Cathedral. Charlie’s ashes will be interred in the beauty of a Wyoming summer day. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a church, school or charity of your choice.
