Clara Gonzales, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away on October 11, 2023, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, WY. Born on November 1, 1935, in Maes, NM, Clara's life was defined by compassion, faith, and a zest for life that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Raised by her grandmother, who was a local medicine woman and midwife in Maes, NM, Clara learned valuable skills and wisdom that would shape her journey. From an early age, she embraced these teachings and carried them throughout her life. Clara's education was not confined to textbooks but rather rooted in the values of tradition and heritage.

Clara's warm personality made her a joy to be around. She effortlessly made others feel welcome and included in any gathering. Her kind and loving nature were matched only by her unwavering faith in humanity. Clara led by example and left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

One of Clara's many remarkable qualities was her phenomenal cooking abilities. Family gatherings were always an occasion to look forward to because of the delicious meals she would prepare with love. Alongside her culinary skills, Clara had a passion for collecting rocks, telling stories that captured the imagination of all who listened, and coloring pictures that brought vibrancy to the world around her.

Clara's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her children and grandchildren. Through the depth of her love and dedication as a mother, she nurtured their dreams and aspirations, empowering them to become the best versions of themselves.

Throughout Clara's life journey, she shared unimaginable joy with those closest to her. Her smile had a contagious effect on everyone fortunate enough to witness it. Not only did Clara possess a great sense of humor that never failed to light up a room, but she also had an uncanny ability to find solace amidst life's challenges.

On October 11th, surrounded by her beloved family and cherished friends, Clara Gonzales peacefully passed away. Her legacy of love, compassion, and faith will continue to inspire and guide those who hold her memory close to their hearts.

Clara is survived by her loving children: Theresa Gonzales, Victoria Gonzales, Christine Potter, Amado Gonzales Jr., Margie Carrera, Zandra Lopez, Irene Gonzales, Frankie Gonzales (grandson she raised as her own), and 22 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

Clara was preceded in death by her mother Albina Grano, father Luciano Maes, stepfather Eppie Grano, husband Amado Gonzales, daughters Alva Pena and Lorraine Trujillo, and son Frankie Gonzales.
