Clyde Wood

Clyde Q. Wood, 97, passed away on August 3, 2012 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. He was born April 18, 1915 in Garland, UT. Clyde was the son of Charles William and Hannah Clair Leavitt Wood. He married Beth Rhodes on September 11, 1935 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Logan Utah Temple. As a 1933 graduate of Bear River High School, he served as senior class president. In his early years he worked on the farm and then owned a service station while Beth ran the Burger Stand next door. He worked on a turkey farm and as a miner in Magna. He began his drug store career in Salt Lake City, UT with Payless Drugstore and moved with the company to Billings, MT; Pocatello, ID; Provo, UT and finally to Cheyenne where he remained. Payless Drugs eventually asked him to stay in Cheyenne and run Roedel Drugs where he worked until his retirement at the age of 92 when the store closed. Clyde was well known in Cheyenne as manager both of Skaggs and Roedel Drugs. His word was as good as his strong handshake. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles, Theron, Farrell, Leland, Reed and LaMar Wood, one sister Clara Davis and grandson Joseph Seppie. Clyde is survived by his wife of 76 years Beth Rhodes Wood and four children: LaRae Rothe (Bob) of Tucson, AZ; Hal Wood (Terry) of Green River, WY; Alan Wood (Julie) of Cheyenne, WY and Sandra Seppie (John) of Rock Springs, WY. Grandchildren Tim Wood, Tony Wood, Steve Wood, Keri Hall, Brandi Seppie, Cristi Lang and Cole Seppie. He leaves behind 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Hal Wood, Alan Wood, Bob Rothe, John Seppie, Tim Wood, Tony Wood, Steve Wood and Cole Seppie. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Hall, Dallas Nessen, Bill Bingham, Owen Wood and Wayne Wood. Visitation will be Monday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be Saturday at Garland Cemetery in Garland Utah. Services in Cheyenne are under the care of Schrader Funeral Home.
