Colonel Edward "Ed" Osborne

Colonel Edward W. "Ed" Osborne, 84, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017, at the Davis Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. Edward was born November 20, 1932, in South Boston, Virginia, a son of the late Raleigh E. and Bessie (Willis) Osborne. Ed attended college and played football for Elon College in North Carolina and later graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Edward served honorably in the United States Air Force for 32 years and his education included graduating from Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, and Air War College. Ed was actively involved in numerous organizations which included the following: Knob Noster, Missouri, School Board Member, Board of Foster Grandparents, Board of Adjustments, Kiwanis Club of Cheyenne including the Pancake Committee for 18 years, Military Affairs Committee, Member of Secretary of State, HAVA Committee, Delegate of Wyoming State Republican Convention in August 2004, Associate Member of Republican Women's Club, North Christian Church, Cheyenne Country Club; Couples Gourmet Club, Bridge Club, Square Dance Club, American Legion, Life Member of the VFW, Past Member of the Cheyenne Golf Club, Cowboy Joe Club, Election Judge, Precinct Committee Member, Certified Hospice Volunteer, Board of Directors of AFA, Military Officers Association of America, Lay Member of Wyoming Supreme Court Unlawful Practice of Law Committee, Meals-On-Wheels, and Associate Member of Dadaelions Club. Ed's other interests included his love of cooking, spectator sports, especially the Denver Broncos, working in his flower garden, and his little Yorkie, Sir Buckingham "Bucky". Ed is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirlee (Johnson) Osborne of Cheyenne; five children, Sandra Headley of Georgetown, TX, Susan Jackson of St. Louis, MO, Steven Osborne of Lakeway, TX, Scott Osborne of St. Louis, MO and Stuart Osborne of St. Louis, MO; sister, Jenny Wilkins of South Boston, VA; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery with his family holding a memorial service on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the North Christian Church, Cheyenne.
