Mr. Conrad O. DeMartine, 80, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Saturday evening, August 10, 2013, at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Mr. DeMartine was born September 21, 1932, in Walsenburg, Colorado, a son of the late Albert and Gertrude M. (Gayhardt) DeMartine. Conrad served honorably in the United States Navy and Air Force during both the Korean War and Vietnam War. He worked in the civil service at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, the Chemical Depot in Pueblo, CO, and at F.E. Warren Air Force Base. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hiking, skiing and golfing. He was a skilled artisan in a variety of mediums and he served as a past board member for UPLIFT and a past member of the Elk's Club. He will be remembered for his love of family, for helping his children with 4-H projects, and for caring for his dogs and sheep. Conrad is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda (Russell) DeMartine of Cheyenne; his daughter, Angie Mefford and husband, Acie, of Gillette, WY; his son, Gilbert DeMartine of Cheyenne; two brothers, Anthony DeMartine of Pueblo, CO, and Patrick DeMartine of Littleton, CO; a sister, Deloras Woodson of LaVeta, CO; three grandchildren, Colton, Braxton and Andon Mefford of Gillette, WY; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alberta Boddy and Gertrude Boddy. A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cheyenne Berean Church. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy in Conrad's memory may be made to the St. Joseph's Indian School, the Navajo Relief Fund, or the Native American Rights Fund.
