Darleen E. (Knaus) Bittinger, 85, passed away on March 3, 2016, at Davis Hospice Center. Darleen was born March 19, 1930 to Carl and Fern (Sharp) Knaus in Boulder, CO. She met Milton Bittinger in 1950 while attending the University of Denver Nursing School. They married in April of 1951. In 1956, they moved to Cheyenne and lived there the rest of their lives. Darleen was a homemaker and volunteer. She was part of several Bible studies, XJWC, Executive Club, P.E.O. Chapter BA, but her true passion was her volunteer work for Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, where she put in over 8,000 hours. Darleen was a woman with a strong faith. She belonged to the First Congregational Church for many years. Darleen is survived by her children, Mary Pino and husband, Steve, Jim Bittinger and his wife, Stacey, and Mark Bittinger and his wife Christine; sister, Rebecca Carmean and husband, Lance; brother, Hugh Knaus and wife, Patti; grandchildren, Joseph Pino and wife, Thora, Sara Pino, Liz Hensley and husband, David, Thomas Bittinger and wife, Michelle, Jason Bittinger, and Amy Aubuchon; great-grandchildren, Katrina Pino and fiancée, Rudy Mergard, Eric Zuniga and wife, Jasmine, Elizabeth Pino, Troy Zuniga, Jillian Pino, Caleb Hensley, Chloe Hensley, Bryce Bittinger, Michael Bittinger, Theresa Spence and Chelsea Spence; sister-in-law, Patsy Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Darleen is preceded by her parents; husband; and brother, Donald. Darleen was a kind and loving person with a spunky spirit. Everyone who knew her loved her. She will be greatly missed. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Darleen's honor to First Congregational Church, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, or a charity of one's choice. A memory service will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church with a reception to follow.
