David G. Crownover, 89, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 14, 2014, at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Mr. Crownover was born August 12, 1925, in Jackson, Michigan, son of George M. and Helen L. (Horton) Crownover. David is survived by his loving wife, Willie (Throgmorton) Crownover of Cheyenne; four children, Connie Neighbors and husband, Clayton, of Quincy, MI, Larry Crownover and wife, Sue, of Clackamas, OR, Margot Plachetka and husband, Bruce, of Athens, WI, and Michael Crownover and wife, Gloria, of Mundelein, IL; four step-children, Ann Burkitt and husband, Steve of Brooklin, IA, Lynn Deason and husband, Troy, of Cheyenne, Rae Zekovich and husband, Mark, of Cheyenne, and Charles Parrish of West Frankfort, IL; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife of 50 years, Irene (McPherson) Crownover. David enlisted in the United States Army during World War II serving in the South Pacific. Following his honorable discharge, he attended college in Michigan and earned a degree in manufacturing engineering. He was called to ministry and served as a Southern Baptist minister for 65 years and also enjoyed leading Bible studies for 15 years. His religious studies led him to translate the Greek and Hebrew versions of the Bible into English, and he authored numerous religious study materials. David enjoyed politics and ran for Cheyenne City Council as a conservative constitutionalist. His other interests included reading, spending time outdoors, particularly in the mountains, and enjoying all flavors of ice cream. Family and friends are invited to a memory service with military honors on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader Funeral Home, 2222 Russell Ave. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
