The amazing David Michael Hendershot, 63, passed away on June 4, 2014, at 4:26 p.m. at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Born in Cheyenne on July 18, 1950, he was a 4th generation Cheyenne resident. He is survived by his wife, Debbie of 40 years; son, Ryan; daughter, Lindsey; daughter-in-law, Brandy; dogs, Iris and Coda; and his brothers, John, Steve and Bobby. He will be missed dearly. David did many wonderful things in his life after graduating from East High School in 1968. He served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman in Southern California. After serving, he returned to Cheyenne and met the love of his life. David and Debbie were married in Cheyenne on February 9, 1974. Together they created a wonderful life and family here in Cheyenne. He worked for School District #1 for over 20 years as Head Paint Foreman and IT Technician. Following his diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 1990, he volunteered countless hours to raising awareness and money to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and research. As a loving husband, he was proud of his wife and all of her lifelong accomplishments. He supported all that she wished to do. He was a wonderful father to Ryan and Lindsey giving them many moments that will be lifelong lessons. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and loved to go shooting. He loved the Wyoming Cowboys, NASCAR and Denver Broncos. He always loved making people smile and laugh. Services will be held Saturday, June 14th, in Lions Park, with a Celebration of Life reception at the Old Community House at 3 p.m., 600 South Lions Park Drive. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made toward the David Hendershot Memorial Fund at WyHy Credit Union, 1715 Stillwater Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82009. The monies will go towards a memorial bench in Lions Park.
