Debra Rose Raymond, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, was born on July 24, 1950, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She passed away on January 29, 2025, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, leaving behind a legacy of strength and determination that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
Debra's educational journey began at St. Dominic Grammar School, followed by Cabrini High School. Demonstrating her dedication to personal growth, she later earned her Cosmetology License. Driven by a spirit of service, Debra entered the United States Air Force, where she not only earned the Good Conduct Medal and the Military Merit Medal but also distinguished herself with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Her commitment to her duties and her country was a reflection of her character, marked by resilience and integrity.
A true adventurer at heart, Debra was affectionately known as the Amelia Earhart of her family. Her life experiences were as varied as the places she lived, which included stints in Germany, Cairo, Egypt, and numerous states across the United States. In Egypt, she embraced the culture, learning Arabic and engaging with local vendors in her uniquely charming way, playfully dubbed "Let's make a deal to Deb." Her joy transcended language barriers, and she took delight in riding her Arabian horse on the Embassy Compound, embodying a spirit of adventure and exploration.
Debra's family meant the world to her. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy L. Perkins; her mother, Una P. Raymond; her twin sister, Diana R. Cieutat (Michael); and her sister, Julie R. Bonanno (Donald). A cherished aunt, she leaves behind nieces Jolie Nevins (Chris), Samantha Schlaudecker (Ryan), and Angelique Bonanno, as well as nephews Troy Laney and Timothy Cieutat. Her loving spirit also touched the lives of her great nieces—Madeline Berges, Natalie Laney, Ellie Laney, and Adalis Nevins—and one great nephew, Isaac Nevins.
Debra was preceded in death by her father, Clifford F. Raymond, and her son-in-law, Tony Perkins. Her vibrant spirit and adventurous life will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we reflect on her life, we honor her contributions, her love of family, and her enduring legacy of courage and joy.
