Diane (Murray) Twine, 73, passed away peacefully Dec. 10 at her home in Cheyenne, with family by her side. Even as she faced serious illness, Diane showed the same toughness, grace, humor and love for which she was so well known to her family and many friends. Diane was born Aug. 6, 1945, in Cheyenne to William M. Murray and Therese M. Murray. The eldest of four children, she graduated from St. Mary's. In 1967, Diane married Bruce Twine, then a Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force stationed at F.E. Warren AFB. For the next 25 years, Diane and Bruce together served our country, moving from Cheyenne to Nebraska, Washington DC, California, North Dakota and Italy. At each of these postings, Diane made the most welcoming and popular home on base, for everyone from the most junior airman to the most senior general officer. Every Air Force family knew that Diane's house would have an open door, a delicious spread and ample good cheer. After retiring from the Air Force, Bruce and Diane returned to Cheyenne. Diane developed a passion for yoga, becoming certified as an instructor, and studying under renowned experts for years. She continued to teach a devout following of students in Cheyenne even as her health declined during the last two years. Drawing inspiration from living in Naples, Italy, Diane continued to hone her cooking skills. Like an artist, she would experiment, innovate and create the most fantastic meals, never fully satisfied that she had achieved perfection but always happy to receive the enthusiastic appreciation of her guests. Diane loved politics, current events, theater and music. She had a rich and beautiful vocabulary that was on most vivid display in her longhand letters. But most of all, Diane was the world's most gracious host - she would make each and every person in her home feel valued and cared for. Diane is survived by her mother, Therese (Popp) Murray; and brother, William M. Murray II; daughter, Leah Lindblom and her children, Keagan and Erik, of Arvada, Colo.; daughter, Kyler Smart, son-in-law, Mike, and their children, Ethan and Sydney, of Arlington, Va. Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce; her father, William M. Murray; and her sisters, Kate Foster and Mary Murray. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Thomas Cronkleton, Jr as celebrant. An interment service will follow at Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at http://www.diabetes.org.
