Dolores A. Baker, age 69, of Cheyenne Wyoming, passed away Friday, February 10th, 2023 at Davis Hospice Center after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Turlock, California on September 27th, 1953 to the late Alfred Grimes and Harriette Holmes.
She met her soulmate and husband of 40 years, Stephen J. Baker, in California and they enjoyed country western and ballroom dancing, dressing alike, and had a tremendous love of animals. During their time together, Dolores and Steve had four dogs, four cats, two cockatiels and six llamas – all of which they felt were their “fur-babies”. The llamas allowed Dolores to use her creative talents spinning, knitting, and weaving their fiber.
Dolores started her adult life as a CPA but wanted to help people more directly so earned an MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology to provide counseling to those in need. She moved into the energy healing field and was a Reiki Master/Teacher, a sound healer and certified in cranial sacral therapy among other non-traditional healing modalities. Dolores and her husband Steve opened Mago Healing Arts, a metaphysical store, in Cheyenne in 2009 and bought a similar business in Colorado Springs a few years later to allow them to help people on their spiritual path.
Always creative, in later life Dolores became a full-time artist, creating really bright and colorful abstract painting as well as painting energy portraits of people’s pets and wild animals. She also made teddy bears many of which became part of her huge teddy bear collection on display all around their home.
Dolores was a kind and gentle soul who was generous and loving. She is survived by her husband Steve and their cat, Merlin.
