Don was born in Denver, Colorado, on July 30, 1948, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and love, on March 13, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Don lived a life full of love, adventure, and unwavering dedication to those he cherished.
A proud veteran, Don honorably served a year and a half in Vietnam in the armed forces, embodying courage and commitment to his country. After his service, he dedicated 35 years of hard work and loyalty to Ralston Purina before retiring.
Don’s biggest passion in life was the great outdoors. Whether he was camping beneath a star-filled sky, hiking through the mountains, casting a fishing line into a quiet lake, or setting out on a hunting trip, nature was his sanctuary. He shared these adventures with his family, creating cherished memories that will live on in their hearts forever. His love for the wild was only rivaled by the love he had for his family.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie; his children: Greta Brooke, Sarah Vali, and Rhiannon Vali; his cherished grandchildren: Stewart Dinkel, Paris Romero, Arianna Chamblee (Vali), and Mia Vazquez; his daughter-in-law, Michaelle Hamilton (Dinkel); his brother, Terrance Dinkel; and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him profoundly.
He is going home to his beloved son, Dustin; his grandson, Joshua; and his parents, Dan and Rosie.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The rosary will take place at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home on Friday, March 28th, at 6 p.m.
Don’s legacy of love, adventure, and strength will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will forever roam the mountains, rivers, and forests he so dearly loved.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Safe Travels on your next adventure, Don!
