Donald G. Iverson, 84, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Tuesday evening, January 3, 2017, at the Davis Hospice Center. Donald was born May 17, 1932, in Brush, Colorado. Don was a graduate of the University of Colorado Medical School. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1963 as Chief Medical Officer at RAF Kirknewton in Edinburgh, Scotland. He and his partners, Rod Anderson and Don Lawler, established the Cheyenne Eye Clinic, where Don practiced ophthalmology from 1966 to 1994. Upon retirement, he became an accomplished cabinet maker and enjoyed building furniture for his family, friends, and various local charities. Don was a 50-year member of Ascension Lutheran Church, a member of Cheyenne Chamber Singers,a chief of staff and served on the Foundation of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, and Past President of both Kiwanis Club and Old West Museum boards. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Jane (Leland) Iverson; daughter, Valerie (Steve) Jones of Oregon; sons, Scott (Katy) Iverson of Washington, and David (Lilly) Iverson of California; stepson, Nathan (Rachel) Potter, and step grandchildren, Ashley, Emma, and Levy Jewel Potter of Laramie; nieces and nephews, Kristi Hilton, Ron Iverson, Bob Iverson, and Ruth Iverson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Mabel (Holland) Iverson; brother, Clair Iverson, and aunt, Edith Holland. A memorial service will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church with Pastor Wes Aardahl officiating. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon, and Jacoby Funeral Home. The family asks that instead of flowers, friends who wish to honor Don consider a contribution to Ascension Lutheran Church, Cheyenne Chamber Singers, or Davis Hospice Center.
