Donald J. Scott, of Cheyenne, passed into the arms of Jesus May 1, 2012 at Davis Hospice Center with his family at his side. Born February 17, 1919 in Neola, Iowa Don was one of four children born to Thomas and Catherine (Doyle) Scott. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Neola and joined the U. S. Marine Corps in during World War II where he served in the Pacific Theatre (Guadal Canal). Upon his discharge he began driving a street car in Washington D. C. where he met and married his darling wife, Edna Mae Williams. He began his railroad career in Laramie with the Union Pacific. Don was a telegrapher and train dispatcher for over 33 years, retiring in 1981. Don was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Cheyenne Lodge #1 A.F. & A.M., UP Old Timers Club and the Wyoming Telegraphers Club. Don enjoyed his church and the church family, singing in the choir even into his 90's. Don is survived by his two children, Robert L. "Bob" Scott of Cheyenne and Leigh Ann Scott (Joanne Dawson) of Lowell, Massachusetts; grandson, Brian Donald Scott of Cheyenne; brother Richard Scott of Underwood, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, mother, father, brother, Robert V. Scott and sister, Marion McElravy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Davis Hospice Center, 6000 Sycamore, Cheyenne, WY 82001 or the Shriner's Hospital Travel Fund. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday in Schrader Chapel with Pastor Jeff Heitsch officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Schrader Reception Facility.
