Donna L. Simmons of Cheyenne died on Monday, May 28, 2012. She was born on August 22, 1926, in Oakland, MD. She graduated from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA, in 1946 with a degree in music. Donna worked for the Registrar's Office of the University of Wyoming in Laramie where she met her future husband, Daniel L. Simmons. They were married March 6, 1952, in Oakland, MD. Her husband was a ground water geologist whose work took them to Salt Lake City, Utah, Billings, MT, Addis Abuba, Ethiopia, Africa, Manila, Philippines, and finally to Cheyenne in 1968. She was a member of the Mu Phi Epsilon, a music sorority in college, Chapter Z-PEO, and the First Congregational Church in Cheyenne. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, who was the Wyoming State Geologist at the time of his death, and by her son, Gregg Simmons of Denver, CO. She is survived by three sons, Bryan Simmons of Monument, CO, Steve Simmons and his wife, Brenna, of Aurora, CO, and John Simmons and his wife, Jennifer, of Westminster, CO; and three grandchildren, Daniel Simmons, Jacob Gabel, and Tyler Simmons. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Schrader Chapel. An interment service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery.
