Doris M. Woodcock, 80, of Cheyenne passed away May 2, 2015 at Primrose Assisted Living in Cheyenne. Doris was born May 27, 1934, in Loveland, CO, daughter of Clarence and Clementine Wages. Her family's farming career took them to Carpenter, WY, Chappell, NE and Ava, MO. Doris graduated school in Ava, in 1952, moved to Cheyenne, where she met the love of her life, Ronald D. Woodcock, and married in October 1954. Doris was employed at the Owl Inn as a carhop. She went to work at the Hitching Post in 1957 as a banquet waitress and was promoted to banquet waitress manager, retiring in 2001. Through her years at the Hitching Post, Doris met several Presidents, and knew all the state senators and representatives as well as the Governors on a personal basis. Doris is survived by children, Cheryl (Rich) McVeigh, Sandra (Joe) Cromwell, Rhonda (Stuart) Engen, of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Amber, Ashley (Kirk Tudor) and Kendra Cromwell (David Grimm); great-grandchildren, Diviah and Drake Grimm, and Nicole and KJ Latham; sister-in-law Betty Woodcock of Casper; brothers-in-law, Junior (Mary) Woodcock, of Lincoln and Rex (Daisy) Woodcock of Gillette. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ronald D. Woodcock; son, Ronald E. Woodcock; siblings, Harold Wages, Carol Wages, Wayne Wages and Evelyn Christensen. Doris fought a brave battle against COPD and cancer. She is remembered as a great mother, friend and a hard worker. She loved the Broncos and John Elway, the great outdoors, camping, water skiing and the time with her family. Memory Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Lakeview Chapel at Schrader Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens. Those who wish may contribute to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.
