A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with The Reverend Bob Garrard officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Mrs. Dorothy J. Edwards Wagner, 92, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Wednesday morning, June 9, 2010, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. Dorothy was born to Florence J. and William J. Workman, M.D., on April 1, 1918, in Ashland, Kansas. She attended Ashland Public Schools and graduated high school in 1935. That same summer she moved with her family to Boulder, Colorado, where she entered the University of Colorado. She met and married her first husband, Harold F. Edwards, a pre-med student at the University of Colorado. She dropped out of school and worked as a dental technician to help her husband through school. To this union, four children were born: Janyce Lauren Andree of Modesto, California, Martha Karnopp Chaput, Esq., of Aurora, Colorado, Nancy A. Brunskill of Arvada, Colorado, and William J. Edward of Cheyenne, Wyoming, all of whom survive her. They raised their family in Lander, Wyoming. Dorothy is also survived by one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Edwards; two sons-in-law, William G. Brunskill and James P. Chaput; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Dr. Edwards preceded her in death. She was married again to Charles W. Wagner of Cheyenne. They were married thirty-eight years until he preceded her in death on November 9, 2007. Dorothy was a graduate of the University of Wyoming, a musician, professional artist and educator. She taught in Cheyenne’s Laramie County School District #1 for ten years. She was a past member of the Cheyenne Teachers Association, Wheatland Artists’ Guild, Business and Professional Women’s Club, Music Appreciation Club, and Beta Sigma Phi. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Cheyenne Artists’ Guild. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cheyenne. Expressions of sympathy in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Davis Hospice Center, 6000 Sycamore, Cheyenne, WY 82009.
