Dwain Frerich, born in Clear Lake, MN, January 26, 1932; died Cheyenne, WY on January 18, 2013, at age 80. Dwain was raised on farms and went to school in Clear Lake, Foley, and St. Cloud, MN. His passion was being outside and horses; when the work was done he would get the horses out of the barn and ride to relax before bedtime. Growing up, Dwain helped with farm chores, using horses for many tasks. In the wintertime, he used horses to pull his friends around on skis across the fields. He was a rancher in South Dakota. He trained wild horses for the Indians in Pierre, SD and took care of horses for wagon trains out of Spearfish, SD. He made a living logging trees in South Dakota and Wyoming, using horses to haul the logs out of the forest. He worked for a time for Jimmy Shoulders in the horse chutes. He moved to the Cheyenne area in 2011. Survived by brothers Lyle, Marvin, Robert and James; and sisters Connie Belair, Margorie Cannon, and Dolores Willard along with nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his mother Esther (Wipper), father Virgil and younger brother Kenny. The family wishes to thank the staff at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center for their support and kindness during Dwain's stay. Vigil for the Deceased will be Monday, 7 p.m. at Schrader Chapel with Fr. Tim Martinson officiating. Memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Schrader Chapel. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
