Earl Thomas "Tom" Ricord, 83, of Cheyenne died on Monday, October 8 at home in Cheyenne. He was born December 16, 1928 in Windsor, Colorado to O.L. Ricord and Olive (Eberhart) Ricord. Mr. Ricord graduated from Eaton High School before joining the Navy in 1946. He served on the USS English DD696 as a radioman. Upon returning to Colorado, he enrolled in an engineering school in Denver. Upon graduation, he worked in Denver for Heron Engineering for six years and then Midwest Steel and Iron Works Company as a structural steel salesman for 30 years. In 1987 he became an estimator and detailer of structural steel bridges and highway materials for BigR Manufacturing and Distributing in Greeley. He married Dorothy Bisant in 1954. She died in 1990. They had a daughter and a son. In 1996, he met Kathie Selden, and because he was a then self-employed contract detailer, he was able to continue working for BigR and move to Cheyenne in 1997. They married January 10, 2000 in Pokhara, Nepal. He was involved in volunteer activities in Cheyenne including a member/officer in Westerners, International; Wagon Doctor for the Old West Museum; set builder for Cheyenne Little Theatre; "gopher" for Delta Kappa Gamma & the Library Foundation; member Cheyenne Symphony, Little Theatre and Cheyenne Concert Association. Mr. Ricord is survived by his wife, Kathie Selden of Cheyenne; daughter, Veronica Coats of Greeley; son, Chris Ricord of Fort Collins; step- sons Todd Dereemer (Wendy Volk) and Joseph Dereemer (Shawna), both of Cheyenne; three grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren; sister, Verneal Dawson of Texas.
