Eddie Bixby

Eddie Gail Bixby, 63, of Sun City West, Arizona, formerly of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, of natural causes. Ed was born in Cheyenne on January 2, 1949, the first day of the '49 Blizzard, to Byron Dale Bixby and Frances Ilene (Harmon). Ed and his mom were stranded at Memorial Hospital for the next ten days. Ed graduated from Central High School in 1966, then joined the Naval Reserve and served time in Vietnam before returning to Wyoming. He attended college at EWC in Torrington and LCCC, and later received his bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Wyoming. He was hired as a Procurement Specialist by the federal government in Los Angeles. After retirement, Ed moved to Sun City West, Arizona. His interests included remote controlled cars and airplanes, electronics, ham radios, and arguing politics. Ed is survived by his sister, Patsy Parkin and husband, Don, of Wheatland, WY; his brother, Arlie Bixby and wife, Jean, of Cheyenne; an uncle, Paul Bixby of Phoenix, AZ; an aunt, Jo Nickles and husband, Nick, of Los Angeles, CA; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his two cats, Butch and Sundance. A graveside service with will be conducted on Friday, March 16, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery with Pastor Roger Aurand officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard. Darren, Donny, Dave, and Dan Parkin, AJ Bixby, and Bob Dennis will serve as pallbearers. The family requests no flowers, but donations may be made to the animal shelter of the donor's choice.
